The Prospect Screen

A Prospect is someone who has not bought a car from you (at least, not recently.) They might be an internet lead, a phone up, someone on a "want list" and even someone on a mailing list (a list of people to send stuff to so hopefully they will think of you when they get an itch for a car.)

A lot of stuff with prospects is identical to Customers so please check out the Sold Customer tutorial before viewing this one.

How to Create a Prospect

On the menu at the top of FollowUpCRM, highlight PROSPECTS and then choose the type of prospect you would like to create

Remember, a PROSPECT is someone who has visited the dealership and has left without buying a car. A PHONE UP is a phone lead who hasn't been to the dealership yet (check SHOWROOM when they show up to turn them into a prospect.) INTERNET is an internet lead that has not been to the dealership yet. WANT LIST is someone who is looking for something specific that you don't have. You can watch out by checking your want list daily and hopefully sell them a car in the future. Note that someone in the want list can also be an internet lead or phone up--they want cars too! MAILING LIST is simply a list of people--orphan owners, friends, service customers, etc. that you want to keep in contact with (maybe send them a quarterly newsletter) so when they are in the market, they will think of you.

A Hot Prospect

In my world, a Hot Prospect is someone you are currently working and trying to sell a car. Basically a working prospect--someone who wants a car now!!! Follow up and get em! To help FollowUpCRM know they are "Hot" use the INTEREST LEVEL field.

The Prospect Sales Process

The Prospect Sales Process is identical to the Customer one with one exception--the addition of a LOST tag.

LOST is checked when they tell you they are out of the market (you can then add them to your mailing list if you want.) They may have bought elsewhere, have bad credit, whatever. When you check LOST, they will no longer show up on your quick links as a prospect, in your Hot Prospect list and have follow up generated for them (unless you make a follow up for a LOST customer, that is.)
